Is gestational diabetes like type 1 and type 2? Like the rest of them it is when our body can not keep up with the demand for insulin our body needs and then it can lead to a type of diabetes. About nine percent of the pregnant women in the united states have gestational diabetes. Gestational diabetes is caused our blood sugar level to be higher. Even if our blood sugar level goes down, we still have a high chance of getting type 2 after they have gestational diabetes.
What are the symptoms of Gestational Diabetes? Most women who are diagnosed did not have any of the symptoms. That's why all doctors try to test them in the first 24-48 week of their pregnancy. If they have more risk factors that could show that they have this type they will check them earlier in their pregnancy, and most of the women that have this type they get it after they take the test. The most common test is an oral glucose screening test, it is when their doctor gives them a sweet liquid to drink. The test shows how their body efficiently produces insulin. If their test shows that their blood sugar level is too high then they will have to go through another test. The other test is about the same they just keep drinking the sweet drink and see if their blood sugar level is still high then they will diagnose that person with Gestational Diabetes.
How does Gestational Diabetes affect their pregnancy? If they keep their glucose levels down their pregnancy will go fine, but if they don't it can cause some other problems. When they have gestational diabetes, they will go into labor earlier than they should, and babies that are born early they are more likely to have health problems. They could end up getting high blood pressure from being born earlier. Most times the baby is larger when the mother has gestational diabetes, and it could cause the baby to get stuck during delivery and most babies that are larger have to be delivered by a c-section. Babies that get delivered with diabetes, they will need extra care more a while after the pregnancy.
I think this is a bad thing because they can't really tell if the mother has this type right at the beginning and the test sometimes could be wrong. I know people have a worse life than I do, they could end up with these diseases and have to fight it all of their life, I think everybody takes their life granted and think they can not do anything and everybody hates them. Their are people who just try to stay alive every day and fight all the time and they just think I want to be like the other people. I think that this is the worst type of diabetes because if the mother does not get tested the kid will end up with diabetes after a while when he gets older and then they will have to deal with it. I think that people should figure out a better test for this type because this could really decrease the diabetes population because no more kids would get it.
